Biggio Hamina Pinot Noir, Willamette Valley.

We try to resist being slaves to cookie-cutter varietal menus. Didn’t feel it suited our ethos to force ourselves to have to carry any varietal–but this light, juicy, perfectly earthy red found us through a teeny tiny distributor right here in rva, and it is ridonculously good. And well worth the price.

Roagna Dolcetto, Barbaresco.

Gorgeous underappreciated piemontese varietal. Dolcetto is like the quiet friend who has wit and barb as the moment dictates, but shies from grandeur. Simple and brilliant. Evocative of berries smashed near a barn while farm hands tar a roof.

Field Recordings Fiction Red, California.

Andrew jones works the fields of many winemakers in california, often acquiring grapes for his own purposes on the side. This one is a blend of seven grapes, with a backbone of tempranillo, malbec, and zinfandel.
